The house is within walking distance of bars, restaurants and all shops, with a larger supermarket (Mercadona) situated further into the new part of town, close to the hotel town’s main hotel and petrol station. A municipal pool is open during the summer for at least 3 months, and lake side bathing is available all year round at the local Zahara de la Sierra.
For those who enjoy walking and cycling, the Via Verde is nearby. 38 kms of easy "Green Walkways" as well as for more daring activities, Paragliding at Algodonales, Hang Gliding and Mountain biking is all available locally, Olvera has a fascinating history and is an ideal base for exploring the dramatic landscapes and cultural areas of Andalucía with Ronda, Cadiz, Seville, Jerez and Granada all within easy reach.
Closer by are Lake Zahara and Grazalema National Park. There are airports at Malaga, Jerez and Seville, all served by popular airline companies. Car hire facilities are available at all airports as well as buses to Olvera. There is a 24 hour medical centre, should you need it, although all of the 3 pharmacies are brilliant if you need anything.
Best places to eat are - Juanito Gomez, Pepe Rayas in old town close to the Church and Castle - or of course in the new part of town everywhere is nice! Mi Pueblo - Lyrios is also good, but anywhere really is good, I also love Entre Dos Caminos past the Mercadona supermarket, behind the Sierra Y Cal Hotel, which also has a good restaurant and in the summer they do great BBQ's.
We can arrange Cycling , Birding , Paragliding or Hang Gliding too if needed. Or trips to the local cities , the Arab baths in Ronda, and a city walk is a must visit.

Olvera is one of the 14 recognised Pueblos Blancos (White Villages) of Andalucía. It is a picturesque, friendly town of about 10,000 inhabitants. The town is perched on top of a hill and can be seen for miles around. The town boasts the beautiful Neo-Classical Church (Iglesia Parroquial de Nuestra Señora de la Encarnacion) at the summit in the Plaza de Iglesia.
Adjacent to the church is the completely renovated and restored Moorish Castle, together with the Castle Museum and gift shop. The local Tourist Office is also located here. The views from everywhere in Olvera are magnificent! Particularly recommended are the panoramic views from the top of the Castle. Below the Church and inside the castle walls you will discover the smallest of streets untouched by modernisation, where mules and horses are often still used for transportation!
Moving down from the Church and Castle you will discover the Plaza de Andalucía which contains a magnificent modern waterfall. Above the waterfall can be found The Waterfall Gardens and a small aviary; at the top is the Mirador (‘Beautiful View’ or look out point). Come down from The Gardens back to the Plaza – try the bar in the Plaza – they serve great food and Tapas!. Proceeding down through the town there are a variety of small parks, plazas and viewing points where you can sit, rest, chat, while away the time …There are friendly and welcoming bars and restaurants to suit every taste. They offer great value for money and the local cuisine is delicious everywhere!
The local shops provide everything you need; from daily requirements to gifts and local produce. Just down from the Plaza de Andalucía you can find Esencia Oliva, a small shop selling cosmetics based on local virgin olive oil, blended with a variety of essential oils and fragrances on the premises - the perfect gift to take home or to treat yourself! Olvera is well known for its excellent olive oil; it is still the main source of agricultural income in the area. Rows of Olive trees can be seen for miles in any direction.
Olvera is sited at the start of one of Spain’s Via Verde’s (Greenways). These are great ways to explore the countryside that you would not otherwise get to see. There are over 60 different routes throughout Spain, 12 of which are in Andalucía. The route from Olvera to Puerto Serrano stretches for 38 kilometres and has been described as ‘possibly the most beautiful Via Verde in Andalucía’. It follows the path of a long abandoned railway line. For more information visit www.andalucia.com or visit the local tourist office.
The Ferias and Fiestas are not to be missed, we would be happy to help you to organise a whole range of activities if required.
We hope you enjoy our website, and look forward to seeing you in Olvera soon!
Casita de Estrella is a home from home, set in a peaceful setting of a plaza of just 5 houses on the west side of Olvera, Cadiz 11690. The traditionally Andalusian home has two reception rooms, a basic kitchen, two bedrooms, a fully fitted bathroom and two terraces. The views from the terraces are amazing , with the most picture perfect sunset.
